Basic Education
Basic Education (BE) courses are essential to everyday life and include an array of fundamental and advanced topics for passing the High School Equivalency exam and entering the professional world. Basic Education courses include in-depth Reading, Writing, Math, Social Studies and Technology.
Scholars who enroll in these courses should have a growth mind set of optimism and be prepared to use critical thinking skills. Scholars should be expected to be motivated and inspired to dive headfirst in to learning materials provided by the teacher. The professor will expect the scholar to think outside the box using innovative, cutting-edge, and unconventional thinking process to complete lessons and project goals.
English as a Second Language
[ESL]
English as a Second Language (ESL) courses are primarily for student who’s native language is not English. Professors teach students English by engaging them in an array of activities geared to enhance the vocabulary and communication ability of the student. Scholars can expect to learn how to Read, Write, Speak or converse and respond in English. This class is important for students who want to increase their quality of life and opportunities in the United States. In this course students are heavily immersed in the English language and should be ready to be fully participate in order to make the most of the program.
Career and Technology
Career and Technology (CTE) courses teach students basic and advanced computer schematics. Scholars are immersed in computer terminology and equipment where they are given an array of blended instruction. Students learn about the insides and outside of a computer, configuring and building machinery to global standards. Other courses include learning productivity suite programs such as Microsoft Office. Most of the Career and Technology courses that are offered given students the ability to obtain a certification at the end of the term. Some of the certifications that are offered are Microsoft Word Certification, Microsoft Excel Certification, and Microsoft PowerPoint Certification.
CTE Medical Programs
BALC’s medical program introduces aspiring Nursing Assistants and Patient Care Technicians to an intense and engaging educational program with real patients early and often. Coupled with our comprehensive curriculum, this hands-on approach ensures that our students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, and can respond and relate to patients with equal parts of competence and compassion. The program includes a comprehensive, fair, and uniform system of assessing the progress and capabilities of our medical students.
